My adventures with WordPress started when I began my own personal branding blog in June 2006, where I began writing about leadership, innovation, and clean technology. My first task was to import everything from an old Blogger blog to my own domain, running my own self-hosted installation of WordPress. I used Michael D. Pollock’s Torn 2.0 + Widgets theme as a starting point and gave it custom styling and graphics.

I’d thought of releasing my updated version of Torn 2.0 with the included SEO improvements and optimized ad placement as a free download, because it was originally a freely-available template within the WordPress community, but SoloStream has since started charging a licensing fee for using the original theme.
